1.2 Deviating agreements, in particular in individual contracts for company and office rentals, take precedence over these GTC. Conflicting terms and conditions of the customer shall not apply.

1.3 By booking via the website, by e-mail or on site, the customer accepts these GTC.

2. Definitions

Members are customers with an ongoing membership (Flex Desk, Member or Member Deluxe) or an office or company contract. Flex Desk members are also deemed Members but have a restricted scope of services («Member Light»). The same applies to fixed-term memberships (e.g. trial month).

Externals are all other customers, in particular persons with a Daily Ticket or a meeting room booking without a membership.

3.1 Citizen Space offers the following services:

  • Daily Ticket: use of a flex desk or a flex area in a designated space on the booked day, including coffee and Wi-Fi.

  • Flex Desk (monthly): flex desk, 24/7 access with key, Wi-Fi and meeting room costs reduced by 50%.
  • Member (monthly): fixed desk, 24/7 access with key, Wi-Fi and limited use of the meeting rooms.
  • Member Deluxe (monthly): fixed desk in the Deluxe Space, 24/7 access with key, Wi-Fi, free use of the meeting rooms and exclusive access to the Göteborg and Lissabon meeting rooms.
  • Bookable extras (monthly): Unlimited Coffee, printing, mail service.
  • Company extras on request: own Wi-Fi SSID, private meeting, domicile address with mail service, private office, company office.
  • Meeting and workshop rooms: hourly rental, bookable online in 15-minute increments.

3.2 The exact scope of services is determined by the description on the website at the time of booking.

4. Opening hours and access

4.1 For Externals, the opening hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00. Closed on Saturday and Sunday.

4.2 Members (Flex Desk, Member and Member Deluxe) have 24/7 access. Keys and means of access are personal, may not be passed on to others and must be returned at the end of the contract. In the event of loss, the costs of replacement and of any change of locks may be charged.

5. Prices and payment

5.1 All prices are in Swiss francs (CHF) excluding value added tax (VAT).

5.2 Payment is made on site or by invoice. Daily Tickets cannot be purchased on invoice. Invoices are payable net, without deduction, within 15 days of the invoice date. Section 8.1 applies to memberships.

5.3 In the event of late payment, Citizen Space is entitled to charge reminder fees and default interest of 5% per annum and to block access until payment has been made.

5.4 Citizen Space may adjust the prices of ongoing memberships with effect from the end of a month, subject to at least two months' notice. In this case, the customer may terminate the membership with effect from the date of the price change.

6. Daily Ticket and Daily Ticket Pass

6.1 The Daily Ticket is valid exclusively on the booked day during opening hours and expires at the end of that day. After booking, the customer receives a ticket code with a QR code, which is scanned on the tablet at the entrance on the day of use.

6.2 Daily Tickets are never refunded. This also applies if the ticket is not used or only partially used. There is no entitlement to rebooking or credit.

6.3 The Daily Ticket Pass entitles the holder to 12 days of use. Section 6.2 applies mutatis mutandis to each individual Daily Ticket of the pass. The pass is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase; thereafter, unused days expire without refund.

6.4 The Daily Ticket and the Daily Ticket Pass are personal and non-transferable and may not be resold.

7. Meeting and workshop rooms

7.1 A booking becomes binding upon confirmation by Citizen Space.

7.2 Cancellation and rebooking by Externals: Externals may cancel or rebook a booking free of charge up to 24 hours before it begins. Thereafter, in the event of a no-show or late cancellation, the full rental amount will be charged.

7.3 Cancellation and rebooking by Members: Members may cancel or rebook bookings free of charge at any time.

7.4 Coffee and water are included in the rental price. Further catering is available on request and will be charged separately.

7.5 Additional cleaning costs may be incurred for larger workshops.

7.6 The rental period also includes set-up and dismantling. If the booked time is exceeded, the additional time will be charged subsequently in 15-minute increments.

7.7 Members benefit from the following conditions:

  • Member Deluxe members use the meeting rooms free of charge. The Göteborg and Lissabon meeting rooms are reserved for Member Deluxe members.
  • Members use the meeting rooms within a limited allowance of 16 hours per month; thereafter, they receive a 75% discount on meeting room costs.
  • Flex Desk members receive a 50% discount on meeting room costs.

8. Memberships

8.1 Memberships are invoiced monthly in advance. They begin on the agreed date and, unless they are for a fixed term, run for an indefinite period. Payment of the rent must be made in advance. The rent for the following month must have been received by Citizen Space by the end of the month.

8.2 Memberships may be terminated in writing (e-mail is sufficient) subject to two months' notice to the end of a month. Fixed-term memberships (e.g. trial month) end automatically upon expiry of the agreed month, without the need for notice of termination. They may subsequently be converted into a regular membership; from the time of conversion, the two-month notice period applies.

8.3 Citizen Space may terminate the contract with immediate effect for good cause, in particular in the event of late payment despite a reminder, repeated breaches of the house rules or improper use.

8.4 Upon termination, the workspace must be vacated and cleaned and all keys and means of access returned in full. Items left behind may, after a reminder, be disposed of at the customer's expense.

8.5 Seating: Citizen Space reserves the right, for economic reasons, to relocate Members to another seat within the premises of Citizen Space Zurich, provided that the standard of the premises corresponds to the membership model.

9. Customer obligations and house rules

9.1 The premises, furniture and infrastructure must be used with care and consideration. Due regard must be had for the peace and work of other users.

9.2 Smoking on the premises is prohibited without the landlord's consent. Illegal activities and the operation of businesses that damage the reputation of Citizen Space are prohibited.

9.3 The customer is liable for damage culpably caused by the customer, their guests or their employees to the premises, fittings or equipment of Citizen Space. Damaged or destroyed items must be replaced or paid for at their original price.

9.4 The customer is responsible for their own devices and work equipment. The Wi-Fi and LAN may only be used in compliance with applicable law.

10. Additional rules for Members

10.1 Members must leave meeting and workshop rooms as they found them. Used cups and glasses must be placed in the dishwasher or washed by hand, waste, used flipchart paper and Post-its must be disposed of, and the chairs must be put back at the table. Neither may the windows and glass walls be written on with whiteboard markers, nor may any objects be attached to them.

10.2 Members may prepare tea and coffee in the kitchen. Tea bags and cream or milk must be brought by members themselves. Cups, glasses, plates and cutlery must be placed in the dishwasher or washed by hand after use.

10.3 Members dispose of PET, glass and aluminium in the containers provided for that purpose and not in the waste bin. The usual collection points are available for cardboard. Citizen Space will provide information on their location on request.

10.4 Guests whom Members bring along for a meeting are free of charge. Guests of Members who work at Citizen Space temporarily, for a day or longer, must be reported to Citizen Space. For this purpose, Citizen Space offers a Friendship Ticket at CHF 15.–, coffee included. The Friendship Ticket can be paid directly at reception or requested on invoice.

11. Liability

11.1 Citizen Space is only liable for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence, for indirect damage and for loss of profit is excluded to the extent permitted by law.

11.2 Citizen Space is not liable for the loss, theft or damage of items brought onto the premises, unless gross fault is involved. The customer is responsible for taking out adequate insurance.

11.3 There is no entitlement to compensation or price reduction for interruptions of electricity, internet or other infrastructure services that lie outside Citizen Space's sphere of influence.

12. Data protection

The processing of personal data is governed by the Citizen Space privacy policy, which is available on the website.

13. Final provisions

13.1 Citizen Space may amend these GTC at any time. For ongoing contracts, amendments will be notified at least 30 days in advance. If the customer does not object within this period or continues to use the services, the amended GTC shall be deemed accepted.

13.2 Should any provision of these GTC be invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.

13.3 These GTC are governed by Swiss law, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules. The exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zurich, unless mandatory statutory places of jurisdiction provide otherwise.
